CedarStone is a design-build firm specializing in sustainable, prefabricated mass timber buildings. Based in Springfield, Oregon, we create high-performance, healthy homes rooted in craftsmanship, environmental responsibility, and collaboration. Our design studio shares space with our fabrication shop—architects and builders work side-by-side, every day.

We are seeking a licensed Project Architect to join our integrated team. This is not a remote position—it’s a deeply collaborative role embedded in the daily rhythm of shop, site, and design. You’ll support the Lead Designer in advancing projects from concept through construction, with a strong emphasis on constructability, procurement, and coordination with our build team.

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Support the Lead Designer in developing schematic, permit, and construction documentation

  • Lead code review and ensure compliance across all phases

  • Collaborate with the build team to translate design into efficient, high-performance construction

  • Participate in procurement and coordination of materials and systems

  • Communicate clearly with clients, consultants, and team members

 
Requirements:
​
  • Licensed Architect (in any U.S. jurisdiction)

  • Proficiency in Revit

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Full-time, on-site availability in Springfield, OR

  • Interest in learning construction techniques through hands-on collaboration

 
Preferred Qualifications:
​
  • Familiarity with construction, procurement, or design-build workflows

  • Sustainability credentials (Passive House, LEED, etc.)

  • Experience or interest in prefabrication and mass timber (training provided)

 

Compensation & Professional Development:
​

We offer a tiered compensation model to reflect the depth of training and mentorship provided:

  • Year 1 – Training Phase:
    $65,000–$75,000 annual salary
    Health benefits and one week of paid international training travel
    Immersive, hands-on mentorship and training in mass timber detailing and fabrication

  • Year 2 and beyond – Post-Training Phase:
    $80,000–$95,000+, depending on performance and leadership in projects
    Opportunities for increased responsibility, leadership, and performance-based bonuses

Carpenters (Mass Timber)

Location: Eugene, OR

​

CedarStone Design and Build, an indigenous-owned creative design-build company, is seeking passionate and motivated builders to join our innovative team. We specialize in sustainable construction, we value diversity, and are committed to providing opportunities for growth in the green building industry, in particular for BIPOC tradespeople and tradeswomen. We believe in the power of learning and are offering a unique training-to-employment program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Learn the art of building with Mass Timber through comprehensive training provided by our experienced team

  • Collaborate with a creative and hardworking team to construct groundbreaking Mass Timber homes

  • Follow project plans and specifications to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail

  • Participate in team meetings, contribute ideas, and engage in problem-solving discussions

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:
  • No specific experience required; willingness to learn and positive attitude are essential

  • Passion for sustainability and interest in working with Mass Timber

  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to work well in a team

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions

 

TIMELINE:
  • Training period: August 2023 (1 month)

  • Paid employment: Starts in September 2023 (start date subject to project timeline)

 
COMPENSATION:
  • Training period: Unpaid, approximately 8-10 hours per week (flexible scheduling)

  • Employment period: Paid at a rate of $25-$30 per hour, depending on past experience (paid employment subject to performance and ability to learn)

 

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:
  • Candidates who qualify for the paid position after the training will have the opportunity to receive training in rigging and signaling for cranes, a value of $450, to enhance your skills and professional development.
